SUMMARY:
The Longmont Chorale is searching for a choral director skilled in teaching and conducting various styles to sing with and assist conducting our two ensembles during Monday regular evening rehearsals, dress rehearsals and in various performances throughout the season. In addition to regular concerts, performances may also include collaborations with the symphony or other outreach events. Professional instrumentalists are often hired for dress rehearsals and performances and play on select pieces. The Associate Director will also need to be available to substitute as needed for the Artistic Director.
SCHEDULE:
Regular rehearsals are held in Longmont on Monday evenings. Viva Voce, our auditioned chamber ensemble, rehearses from 6:00-6:50 pm. The Longmont Chorale rehearses from 7:00-9:00 pm. Rehearsals directly prior to the concert are slightly extended to accommodate the need for final polishing of the music and performing full runs. The full (tentative) schedule for this season can be found HERE (Note: Associate Director is not contracted for June-July). (Additional rehearsals or performances may be added for collaborations with the symphony or otherwise)
THE ENSEMBLES:
The Longmont Chorale is our non-auditioned ensemble and is generally composed of around 100 singers. Singers must pass a simple pitch-matching exercise to participate. Viva Voce is the auditioned chamber ensemble and is generally composed of 30-40 singers that also perform with the large non-auditioned ensemble. Both ensembles perform a wide variety of repertoire, both accompanied and unaccompanied, and are expected to perform at a high level. Some outside practice time may be required by individuals.
JOB DUTIES:
- Prepare for rehearsal as necessary.
- Attend and sing for and assist directing all weekly rehearsals for both Viva Voce and the Longmont Chorale (at alternate sites as needed), substituting for the Artistic Director as needed. Lead sectionals during rehearsal as needed.

- Assist in the selection of repertoire, as requested.
