Our Soprano Soloist for Schubert's Mass in G

Mackenzie Laun soprano is a native of Denver, Colorado. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree from the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver, and is a frequent performer along the Front Range.

She sings with Loveland Opera Theater and Boulder Opera Company, as well as with Colorado Bach Ensemble and St. Martin’s Chamber Choir. Mackenzie recently placed seventh in the 2024 Denver Lyric Opera Guild Competition.

Her favorite past engagements include Lola in Moore’s Gallantry, soprano soloist for Mozart’s Requiem with St. Martin’s Chamber Choir, Sarah in Moore’s The Ballad of Baby Doe, and chorus in Puccini’s La bohème under the baton of The Metropolitan Opera’s Yannick Nézet-Séguin.

In the upcoming season, she will be featured in the Winter Opera Concert with Lamont Opera Theatre, and will sing Nella in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi with both Boulder Opera and Lamont Opera Theatre.

Previously, Mackenzie spent 8 years as a high school and middle school choir teacher in Lakewood and Arvada, a career she loved deeply. She now cherishes the job title of stay-at-home mom and freelance singer.

The Longmont Chorale is under the direction of Artistic Director Nathan Wubbena and Associate Director Scott Hamlin, with Accompanist Karlie Carter and Accompanist Emeritus Karen Main.
